FT. LAUDERDALE (CBS4) ¯ Fifteen Broward Sheriff’s deputies and a civilian employee have been re-assigned to desk duty pending the outcome of a drug investigation. The tests are to determine if the employees used steroids.
The 16 employees were directed on Friday to take drug tests. If steroids are detected investigators will determine if the employees had been prescribed them by their doctors.
In 2005, eight sheriff’s deputies were found to be using steroids. They were ultimately cleared of wrongdoing because they were they were prescribed to them by doctors.
